Your Pre-Surgery Checklist Outpatient Surgery Services

  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages for 24 hours prior to surgery.
    Notify your doctor if you have taken any aspirin or products containing aspirin within 10 days of your surgery.
    Take only the medication your physicians or preoperative interview nurse have instructed you to take.
    Bring a list of all your medications with you to the hospital.
    Do not eat or drink anything after midnight on the night before surgery unless otherwise instructed.
    If you smoke, please do not smoke or try to cut down on smoking one day prior to surgery.
    Shower the evening before or the morning of surgery.
    Do not apply powder, lotions or perfumes.
    Remove all makeup and hairpins or clips as well as jewelry from body piercing.
    Bring loose, comfortable clothing to wear home.
    Contact your physician if you develop a cold, flu or other illness before surgery.
    A child may bring their favorite toy, sippy cup, pacifier, and blanket.
