Highlands Regional Medical Center's now offers, state of the art, SMART Operating Rooms!
The Operating room at Highlands Regional Medical Center is leading the way with the latest in surgical technology. Our facility is proud to announce the opening of New Smart OR’s with state of the art systems integration solutions featuring Olympus Endo Alpha. We perform a wide variety of surgical procedures in many specialty areas, including Endovascular Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms, Patient specific total knees and many others. Surgical specialties available at Highlands Regional Medical Center are General, Orthopedics, Vascular, Ear, Nose and Throat, Gynecology, Plastics and many of the latest Laparoscopic Procedures.
The Operating Room schedules cases Monday through Friday beginning at 7AM. Although, Surgical expertise is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week and a surgical team is available on-call 24 hours a day to meet our community’s emergent needs.
Our staff is comprised of specifically trained certified nurses and Physician Anesthesiologists who work with the surgeons. Surgeons perform approximately 4,000 procedures here each year, including everything from cesarean sections to putting tubes in children's ears, removing appendixes to replacing hips and knees. Each surgeon on staff is Board Certified or Board eligible in their fields’,

Included in services provided to our community are Gastroenterology procedures. Services provided range from Esophagoscopies, Colonoscopies, ERCP, and Capsule endoscopies. With the latest in technology including the SpyGlass Direct Visualization system a technically advanced device to accelerate diagnostic accuracy during ERCP, we excel in quality patient care.

Ambulatory Care Services
The Ambulatory Care Services unit at Highlands Regional offers care for medical and diagnostic surgical procedures, outpatient blood transfusions, as well as minor surgery including cataracts, tonsils and adenoids, hernia repair, and arthroscopy. We perform approximately 800 procedures each year and 1800 endoscopy procedures.
Today, undergoing surgery no longer automatically means an extended stay in the hospital. Modern healthcare allows you to have state-of-the-art procedures and quality medical care in the hospital with recuperation in the comfort of your own home.
