  • Diabetic ulcers
  • Lower leg ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers (or bed sores)
  • Bone infection
  • Gangrene
  • Skin tears or lacerations
  • Radiation burns
  • Post-operation wounds and infections
  • Failed or compromised skin grafts

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO)

HBO is breathing 100% oxygen while enclosed in a chamber pressurized between 1.5 – 3.0 times atmospheric pressure.  It has been proven to help wounds, especially infected wounds, heal more quickly.  In experimental and clinical studies of chronic wound management, HBO has been demonstrated to accelerate granulation tissue formation and wound closure.   In addition to helping heal wounds and necrotizing soft tissue infections, HBO can also be helpful in the following conditions:Gas gangrene
Decompression sickness (“the bends”)
Air or gas embolism
Carbon monoxide poisoning
Osteomyelitis (bone infection)
Radiation injuries
Skin grafts and flaps
Burns

Every wound has its unique set of circumstances. Our National Healing Wound Center is equipped with 2 Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy chambers and staffed to address them all, with most treatments covered by Medicare/Medicaid, HMOs, and other private insurance plans. We are experts at caring for people whose open sores have resisted traditional treatment with a success rate of 80% healed in 12-16 weeks.
