Intensive, round-the-clock monitoring and care
Highland Regional Medical Center’s highly trained critical care doctors, nurses and other health care professionals provide 24-hour monitoring and acute care for critically ill patients in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Our 16-bed Intensive Care Unit is equipped to meet the needs of both medical and surgical patients in need of highly-technical medical procedures and nursing services. Patients include those who have or are suspected of having a heart attack; have had major surgery; require a respirator; or anyone requiring very close nursing or medical management.
Highland Regional Medical Center staff is specially trained to meet the complex emotional and physical needs of patients and their families. Our staff are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Individualized care is provided in an atmosphere of complete observation with sophisticated electronic monitoring. In the intensive care setting, immediate life-sustaining action can be taken in response to medical emergencies through staff expertise and life support equipment.
