Occupational Therapy

In simple terms, Occupational Therapists assist individuals across the lifespan participate in the things they want to do through therapeutic use of everyday activities (occupations). Occupational therapy services include:

  • An individual assessment, during which the client, family and therapist determine the person's goals
  • Customized intervention to improve an individual's ability to complete their daily activities and reach goals
  • An outcome evaluation to determine that the goals are being met or to adjust the plan of care

Occupational therapists have a holistic perpective where they look at making adaptations to the environment in order to promote independence of individuals. Occupational therapists recognize the importance of including the client's interests in the development of the treatment plan.
